iBeacon is a new technology that allows your mobile device to alert apps when you approach or leave a location with a beacon. Apps can then provide specific data or information directly to the users device. It uses Bluetooth low-energy signals, which many iOS and Android mobile devices detect and has applications in many classroom environments (e.g., sensors to provide data from science experiments). Participants will learn how beacons work and discover many possible applications for the technology. Those with compatible mobile devices will be able to experience the technology firsthand.
