Technology and Power in the STEM Classroom

Sign up or log in to save this to your schedule, view media, leave feedback and see who's attending!

Technology is becoming increasingly common in the classroom, but a strong vision for what specific goals technology can accomplish has been slower to catch on. We will explore different goals of education technology and focus on one strong vision for the role of technology in the classroom -- transferring power to students. This session will help educators discern substantive technology from superficial technology, and we will also introduce a few software applications we have found to be especially effective examples of tools that can help teachers transfer power to their students.

Ask me about the software that I've written for teachers, it can help with grouping, exit slips, peer evaluation and more. Also, check out my book about the role of technology in the classroom, Hammers Don't Build Houses!
