Moving Along the SAMR Ladder with the 4Cs
As a growing number of teachers continue to explore technology for learning, many tend to focus on the tools vs. instructional practice. Models like SAMR can be utilized as means to bring direction to your planning and provide focus for the direction you are taking. To support instruction along the SAMR continuum, educators can look to the 4Cs (communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and creativity) as the driving force toward more transformational practices. We will be exploring how to connect these ideas together to better align instruction and change in your classroom.

Strategies, Tools, and Examples to Make Learning Personal
Our driving mission is to create personal learning experiences for students with the help of some powerful digital technologies. We will highlight some quick wins, initial stumbling blocks, as well as larger-scale changes that may take years to fully realize. Self-pacing, portfolios, creativity (student and teacher), new ideas, learning management, class design and structure, and resources will be highlighted.

A Growth Mindset Approach to Technology Integration
Though many educators desire to use technology in their classrooms, often a perceived skill deficiency and fear of failure may keep them from taking advantage of the opportunities technology presents to enhance teaching and learning. Carol Dweck's work on Growth Mindset has important implications for how technology coaches and administrators approach technology integration and professional development efforts. By training teachers to develop a growth mindset with regard to technology, we can build their capacity to more meaningfully integrate technology into their instructional practice, embrace challenges, take risks, and collaboratively build a systemwide culture of innovation.

Tech Nerd Camp is a summer professional development program to prepare teachers to use technology in their classrooms. Mounds View is a GAFE district and we are implementing Chromebooks so the focus of our camp was on tools that would be useful for our teachers. Engaging Teachers in Technology Integration
We will share how Austin High School made tech integration a bottom-up movement instead of a top-down directive. A technology exploration group of 15 teachers met regularly throughout the 2014-2015 school year to get an understanding of our school's barriers to technology integration. Once these barriers were defined, we worked to eliminate them through cooperation with IT, district administration, students, and other teachers. This process led us to the 2015-2016 school year, during which we will be conducting a 9th grade laptop pilot with plans to be fully 1:1 in 2016-2017.

Your Digital Footprint
We all have a digital footprint, as do our schools and organizations. “Googling” ourselves makes this apparent whether we have had any say in it or not. As individuals and as organizations, what can we do to actually shape this footprint? With open sharing of our learning, a digital footprint can easily be developed for either an individual, school, or organization. This is not about branding as much as it is about modeling for our students that we are learners along with them.
